Many people in Hanoi experienced tremors this morning, November 25, following those last week.
A person who worked at a high-rise building in Cau Giay District said that the tremors lasted for around 30 seconds, causing plants and computers in her office to shake.
Do Nhung whose office located at a building in Thanh Xuan District also experienced the same, saying that she recognised three shakes that were even stronger than those in the capital on November 21.
She thought it could be an earthquake and then quickly found the related information on the internet. On social media, lots of Hanoians expressed their concern over the repeated incidents.
Speaking with Dantri/DTiNews, Dr Nguyen Xuan Anh, head of Institute of Geophysics, reported that the phenomenon in Hanoi this morning was caused by a 5.4-magnitude earthquake in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang’s Trung Khanh District at the depth of 14 kilometres at 8:18 am this morning.
According to Nguyen Van Dong, a resident in Cao Bang City, he noticed two shakes this morning clearly at this office on the third floor. He even thought that it was an explosion nearby.
Dr Nguyen Hong Phuong, Deputy Director of the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre, said the cause of the Cao Bang earthquake is under investigation. He advised people to keep calm as the shakes remained light.
On November 21, many people at apartments in Hanoi experienced light shakes, which is said to be impacted by a 6.1-magnitude earthquake in Laos.
