An exhibition on Hanoi urban master plan is now open in Hanoi free of charge.
Various scale models for a bigger Hanoi and its satellite areas are on display at the Centre for National Master Plan (Cung Trien Lam Quy Hoach Quoc Gia) on Do Duc Duc Street, Me tri Commune, Tu Liem district.
It will be open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 8:30 to 17:30 with a break at noon and will be closed on Mondays for maintenance.
It attracted thousands of visitors on August 1, the first day the exhibition opened.
Although this exhibition is free to all, many visitors were still tricked into buying fake tickets sold by conmen loitering outside the centre.
The Centre for National Master Plan is located on a 5.5 ha plot with a three-storey building 23 metres high. It boasts a total floor area of 12,000 square metres and is located next to the National Conference Centre and the Hanoi Museum.
The government late last month announced a master plan for Hanoi city towards 2030, aiming it to become a modern city with five satellite urban areas.
Accordingly, the capital city will have a metropolis, five satellite urban areas and several towns linked together. It will boast modern infrastructure while still retaining cultural and traditional heritages.
The metropolis will be broadened and by 2030, will have a constructed area of over 55,000 hectares and population of 4.6 million.
Regional highway systems will be built connecting Hanoi to surrounding provinces.
Eight more bridges and tunnels will be built across the Red River (Song Hong) and five bridges will be constructed to span the Duong River and the Da River.
