Five more Covid-19 infection cases confirmed, total reaches 2,857

Five more Vietnamese people have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, including four imported patients, raising the total number of infection cases in the country to 2,857, the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the four imported patients include two men and two women aged between 25-56 who recently returned from Russia, Japan, and Germany. They were all sent to local quarantine areas in Hanoi and Khanh Hoa Province upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on April 26

The four patients are now being treated at hospitals and healthcare centre in Hanoi and Khanh Hoa.

The other patient is a 63-year-old staff of a hotel in Yen Bai Province who was infected with the virus after coming into contact with a group of Indian experts. He is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.


With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,857, including 1,286 imported patients.

As of 6 pm on April 27, a total of 2,516 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, over 38,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
