The rescue work is facing difficulties due to heavy rains. Local authorities are considering the use of mines to evacuate the victims.

The landslide also seriously damaged two other houses in the area.

Dinh Cong Hung, whose relatives died in the incident, said that he has lived there for 50 years, but this was the first time such an incident had occurred.

All the houses in the area were destroyed and damaged, so the victim families had to borrow a public land plot to hold the funeral.

Devastating rains, floods, and landslides left 32 people dead and missing and nine others injured in Hoa Binh Province as of 7 am on October 13.
