Eight Russian experts have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, bringing the total number of Covid-19 patients to 381 in Vietnam, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control reported on Wednesday evening.

Eight Russian experts who recently came to work in Vietnam have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, bringing the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 381, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control reported on Wednesday evening.

The new patients, who are all men aged between 30 and 55, were among 69 passengers onboard the flight IO4405, landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on July 11, the committee said.

They have been quarantined at a centralised facility in Vung Tau City in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau upon arrival.

All the passengers showed no symptoms of the disease but their samples were taken for viral testing on July 13 and showed positive for the virus. They are now being treated at Ba Ria Hospital in a stable condition.

As of July 15, Vietnam has gone through 60 days without virus transmission in the community. Among the total confirmed patients, 241 are from abroad who have been quarantined upon arrival.
