The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs was asked to co-operate with local agencies and authorities to improve public awareness, how to protect children and how to act when encountering such situations. Communal authorities must set up child protection teams in their areas including members from the communal youth union, the Red Cross, police department and medical stations.
The Ministry of Education and Training will review the teaching conditions at nursery schools while the Ministry of Public Security, Supreme People's Procuracy, Supreme People's Court and the Ministry of Information and Communication will tighten control over drug abuse among youths and to make child-friendly investigation and trials.
The Ministry of Science and Technology was asked to build a network to connect people and organisations who involve in child protection work under the digital Vietnamese knowledge system project.
The call was made after several cases of child abuse were exposed. In the most recent case, Nguyen Huu Linh, former deputy head of the Danang City People's Procuracy was accused of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old-girl in HCM City. The security camera in the lift recorded him hugging and kissing the girl on April 1.
It is said that he had met the girl's family to apologise and this had been accepted. Nguyen Huu Linh retired in June 2018 at the age of 60.
