The 65-km project stretches from its junction with the Ho Chi Minh Highway to the Nam Giang International Border Gate. Funded by the central and city governments, it includes 29 bridges and will be built to Class III and IV mountain road standards, with design speeds ranging from 40 to 60 kph.

The upgraded highway is expected to improve connectivity between Danang and Laos, facilitate cross-border trade, logistics and investment, and support economic development in the city's mountainous western areas.
The project also forms part of Danang's strategy to expand development westward, strengthen regional connectivity and enhance national defence and security.
City authorities urged contractors to accelerate construction while ensuring quality, workplace safety and environmental protection.
