The information was given at a meeting on Thursday between HCM City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen and authorities of Thu Duc District on the locality’s Covid-19 prevention and control activities.

On September 16-21, Thu Duc City focused on large-scale Covid-19 testing activities for local residents. Over the past three weeks, the city has witnessed a considerable decline in Covid-19 patients. The rate of Covid-19 cases out of people provided with Covid-19 tests has also decreased. Thu Duc City saw no Covid-19 outbreak between September 15-21.
To date, around 99.6% of people aged from 18 years old have been provided with the first Covid-19 vaccine shot, with 36.2% of the local population are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
The city has set a target to cover the first jab of Covid-19 vaccine for the whole population aged from 18 by September 30. All people who have recovered from Covid-19 will have been provided with a green card.
However, party secretary of Thu Duc City Nguyen Hieu said that the city is home to many areas with small rented houses, which were often factors that pose a high risk for the return of Covid-19 outbreak. “The most important thing is speeding up the Covid-19 vaccine coverage to ensure safety,” Hieu noted.
According to Hieu, the city will gradually reopen its activities in the coming time.
Local enterprises, particularly those at industrial parks, are requested to strictly conform to Covid-19 prevention and control regulations.
