Ha and his family in hospital
Duong Van Ha from Cu Pui District said their family were riding on a motorbike on June 18 when they collided with another motorbike. Ha and his wife have only grazes but their children's heads hit the ground and they lost consciousness.Doctors at Dak Lak General Hospital said that both 2-year-old Duong Van Cuong and 3-month-old Duong Van Tien had traumatic brain injuries. However, his children don't have birth certificates or health insurance.
According to Ha, both he and his wife have never gone to school and depend on the fields and odd jobs for daily livings.
"I don't know how to read and write. I planned on asking other people to register birth certificates for our children but I was too busy. I hope our children can be cured soon so we can go home. We can't live here," Ha said.
Their family is given hospital charity meals and other patients donated milk and diapers to the children.
Dr Van Huu Khanh, head of Department of Neurology, said both of the children had brain injuries and Duong Van Cuong also showed signs of anaemia. "The treatment is costly. We are also calling for help for them," he said.
Cu Pui Commune Chairman Nguyen Van Tam said they would verify the information and help register birth certificates for the children.
