A Vietjet Air plane
An official at Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong City told the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper on Thursday that they had issued a fine of VND4 million (USD177) to a Chinese passenger for making false security threats on flight.
According to a report from the airport, the 25-year-old passenger was completing the check-in for the flight Vietjet 371 from Hai Phong to Nha Trang at 10.55 am on May 3 when she suddenly said that there was bombs in her luggage.
The staff at the check-in desk immediately informed the airport's security department to come and check the passenger's luggage and separate her from other passengers.
Security staff then found no bomb in her luggage. And the passenger said that she was in so bad mood due to family issues and had made the comment.
The passenger was not allowed to board that flight to ensure safety for other passengers, the airport said, adding that they have proposed to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to ban her from all flights in Vietnam.
