The scene of the fatal accident

Earlier, on September 30, a tunnel of the mine suddenly collapsed, killing a worker of the company named Tran Cao Vinh, 49.

The company will have to strictly conform to the environmental impact report on the mine operation. It is also required to have measures to ensure labour safety which need to be submitted to local authorities for consideration.

After the deadly incident occurred, management agencies have found violations of the company, including mistakes in technical design and labour safety.

Since 2016, waste reservoirs at two titanium mines in Binh Thuan’s Ham Thuan Nam District broke, causing mud red to flood the surrounding areas.

To date, four titanium mines in Binh Thuan have been licensed. Among those, the mine operated by Sao Mai Company covers 350 hectares.
