During a meeting held on Thursday morning, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee Secretary Ho Quoc Dung said that they had just suspended the director of the local Tourism Department, Nguyen Van Dung who was found playing golf at the FLC Quy Nhon Golf Course on July 31 and August 1.

"We are considering punishment for him for violating the regulations on Covid-19 prevention," the party secretary said.

According to a report from the Quy Nhon City Healthcare Centre, on the two days of July 31 and August 1, four people including the director of the local Tourism Department, Nguyen Van Dung, the vice director of the provincial Taxation Department, Nguyen Cong Thanh, and two other local businessmen went to play golf at the FLC Quy Nhon Golf Course. The four men had close contact with a staff member who then tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on August 3.

On August 4, the vice director of the provincial Taxation Department, Nguyen Cong Thanh, was also suspended for 15 days for the violation.

Binh Dinh Province has applied a 15-day social distancing period from 6am on August 1 for Covid-19 prevention.
