50 young Chinese people are detained for illegally entering Vietnam
A representative from Hanoi Police, Hoang Van Chinh shared that the 50 Chinese nationals who have just been found illegally staying in Cau Giay and Nam Tu Liem districts, had managed to come and seek jobs in the area.
"The men went in small groups crossing the northern border paths to Vietnam and hired cars to go to Hanoi where they stayed at some apartments which were arranged by those who arrived earlier," Chinh said. "Most of them are in their twenties and thirties. They said that they don't have stable jobs in China and want to find a job in Hanoi."
The group was detected late on May 2 while staying at an apartment building in Nam Tu Liem District.
Vietnamese authorities are tightening measures to deal with illegal border crossers to prevent the possible spread of Coronavirus.
On April 29, the country announced the first six local infections in over a month. Since then, dozens of new domestic cases have been recorded.
