33 people have been detained while illegally entering Vietnam from China, military officers in the northern province of Quang Ninh announced on Friday.

According to the Bac Son Border Guard Station in Mong Cai City, 33 Vietnamese citizens including 12 women and 21 men were found illegally crossing the border in the area at 4 pm on July 9.
Speaking with the border officers, they said that they came to China to work at several border areas in Guangxi Province in February this year without reporting to local authorities.
On July 9, they crossed a river near the border and managed to return to Vietnam through the border in Mong Cai City. They were found and detained by border patrol while walking along the river bank.
All these people have been sent to a centralised quarantine area for Covid-19 prevention in accordance with the current regulations.
