Students at Bach Mai Medical College go to HCM City to help curb Covid-19 outbreak


Nguyen Hong Son from the Ministry of Health said on August 22 that after the call for support to the southern region, 1,800 people working at medical facilities and medical students had volunteered. 750 students from Bach Mai Medical College arrived in HCM City on the same day to help collect samples for Covid-19 tests.

Hanoi Medical University also sent 250 people, Hanoi University of Pharmacy sent 200 people, Vietnam University Of Traditional Medicine sent 150 people, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy sent 250 people and the Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy sent 200 people.

Eight public hospitals will send 450-500 doctors, nurses and experts to help in the coming days.

Son said they were still calling for more volunteers to help curb the outbreak in the southern region. As of August 21, 14,543 health workers were sent to HCM City and other southern cities and provinces.

The Ministry of Health also mobilised 10 mobile testing stations along with other equipment and personnel.
