Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends Homeland Spring 2025, a programme for overseas Vietnamese in the lead-up to the Lunar New Year, in Prague on January 19 evening
The PM expressed his deep emotions when meeting with the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, and affirmed his pride in their persistent efforts to establish a strong presence in the local society.
He acknowledged the community’s significant contributions to socio-economic development of the Czech Republic and their role as a vital bridge in Vietnam–Czech relations.
Briefing the community on Vietnam’s achievements in 2024, he said the country achieved all 15 socio-economic targets set for the year, with 12 exceeding planned goals. GDP growth reached 7.09%, and the GDP scale reached US$476 billion, ranking Vietnam among the top 35 largest economies globally.
The government continued to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, and ensure key economic balances.
In foreign relations, Vietnam has established diplomatic ties with 194 countries, including strategic and comprehensive partnerships with 32 countries. Vietnam is an active member of over 70 regional and international organizations.
The PM reaffirmed that overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese nation.
Proudly the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic is officially recognized as one of 14 ethnic minorities in the host country, showcasing its influence in both quality and quantity.
The PM said that Vietnam will hold Party Congresses at various levels in 2025, culminating in the 14th National Party Congress in early 2026. He encouraged Vietnamese expatriates in the Czech Republic and Europe to continue supporting Vietnam’s development objectives for 2030 and 2045.
He also urged the community to abide by local laws, uphold the spirit of kindness and foster unity and mutual support, especially in challenging times.
He revealed that Prague has been chosen by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to host the first National Great Unity Day abroad, that reflects appreciation for the achievements and contributions of the Vietnamese community to the Czech Republic.
As the Lunar New Year 2025 is drawing near, the Prime Minister raised a toast to wish the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic a joyful and prosperous year.
