Dak Lak kite festival takes flight to boost tourism

Dak Lak Province has opened its 2026 whistle kite and artistic kite festival, featuring around 100 kites as part of efforts to promote tourism and attract visitors.

The festival opened at Nghinh Phong Square in Tuy Hoa Ward as part of the province's 2026 tourism stimulus programme and celebrations marking an investment promotion conference.

Organisers said the event aims to provide outdoor entertainment for residents and tourists while showcasing whistle kites and artistic kites as distinctive cultural and recreational attractions.

Around 100 kites in a variety of shapes and colours are being flown by kite clubs from Dak Lak and HCM City. The whistle kites, fitted with bamboo flutes, produce distinctive sounds as they soar through the air.

Officials said the festival also offers an opportunity for kite makers and enthusiasts to exchange experience and help preserve Vietnam's traditional kite-flying culture.

The event is expected to promote Dak Lak's natural landscapes, cultural heritage and tourism while supporting the development of local trade and services.
