Search for the Yak-130 military aircraft which crashed on November 6 is underway at the Yok Don National Park in Dak Lak Province.

Authorities in Buon Don District's Krong Ana Commune have announced that any local resident who finds the crashed Yak-130 military aircraft will receive a reward of VND10 million.

On November 8, hundreds of military officers along with other relevant units and local residents gathered at the Yok Don National Park to continue the search for the aircraft.

According to a leader of the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command, they were informed of the radar signal of a Yak-130 military aircraft in Buon Don District.

Some local residents also reported that they heard a loud explosion from the Yok Don National Park at the time of the aircraft crash.

The Yak-130 military aircraft with two pilots on board took off from Phu Cat Airport in Binh Dinh Province at 9.55 am on November 6 for a long-distance and cloud-crossing training session. The accident occured when the pilots tried to land as the landing gear could not be released and their emergency measures did not work. They were able to parachute from the plane at 10.51am at the TB2 shooting range in Binh Dinh's Tay Son District.

Both pilots, Colonel Nguyen Van Son and Senior Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, were rescued from a remote forest area on the same night in stable health condition.

Initial investigations showed that the aircraft had experienced a right-side landing gear failure as it prepared to land while experts are still looking for the black box to identify the cause of the incident.

The Yak-130 is a Russian-manufactured training jet and is capable of reaching speeds up to 1,060 kph. It can fly at a maximum altitude of 12,500 metres.
