The information was given by Nguyen Thanh Tu, head of the Ha Tinh Langur Conservation Group in Thach Hoa and Dong Hoa communes in Quang Binh’s Tuyen Hoa District.
The Assam macaque monkeys have been found at Thiet Son Mountain
According to Tu, one troop consists of 21 monkeys, with the remaining 16 in the other.
Thiet Son Mountain area is a safe place and home to abundant food sources, which has attracted the animals, Tu said.
The Assam Macaque is listed in Group IIB of rare and critically endangered animals needing conservation.
Quang Binh previously acquired quarries in Thach Hoa and Dong Hoa communes in Tuyen Hoa District to plan a 500-hectare special-use forest to preserve the Ha Tinh Langur.
The area also conserves monkeys and other kinds of species.
