President meets with Vietnamese Talent Awards 2009 top scientists

Amongst those attending the meeting in Hanoi were: Prof. Acad. Nguyen Van Hieu, Executive Member of Central Commitee of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, Chairman of Vietnamese Talent Awards 2009 Jury; awarded scientists from 2009; Journalist Pham Huy Hoan, Executive Member of Central Commitee of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, Editor in Chief of Dan Tri online newspaper, Chief organiser of Vietnamese Talent Awards 2009.

Prof. Acad. Nguyen Van Hieu reported to the president on new progresses of the Awards in 2009 when it was extended into the natural science's field for the first time with the support of Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology. He also introduced valuable natural scientific works granted to Prof. Ngo Viet Trung, Prof. Nguyen Hoang Tri and Prof. Le Tran Binh who also attended the meeting.

Hieu also expected that the Party and State would pay more attention to the Awards in the future in order to stimulate undiscovered talents in many fields and to devote to the national construction and development causes as well as to honour them.

Prof. Ngo Viet Trung, an internationally renowned mathematician spoke to the president about the mathematical development strategy of Vietnam by the Vietnamese Mathematical Society. The goal is for advanced mathematical training and researching centre's to play an important role in the training of young, talented mathematicians from around the country.

Prof. Le Tran Binh pointed out the necessity to develop an antibiotic industry in Vietnam. He also presented a successful blood identification technique from mortal remains with genetic technology developed by the Institute of Biotechnology and requested to transfer it to assigned agencies.

Prof. Nguyen Hoang Tri talked about eight world biosphere reservation areas in Vietnam, mainly consisting of mangrove forests, recognised by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) and international scientists.

Prof. Phan Nguyen Hong, who successfully completed researching works on mangrove forests, expected the State and the Ministry of Science & Technology to support mangrove forest researching and growing as well as developing our biosphere reservation areas.

Journalist Pham Huy Hoan reported to the president about the successful implementation of his direction when the Awards extended into other fields. This year's awards were supported effectively by the Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology, Ministry of Information & Communications, Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Education, Vietnam Association for Information Processing and VNPT corporation.

After listening to all reports, the president commended the efforts and coordination of organizers, the jury board and all relevant bodies to discover and honour talents contributing to the nation's development. He also conveyed consensus to many proposals of scientists in the meeting and wants organisers and jury board members to continue discovering and honouring talents in the country as well as those who are living abroad to give them opportunities to contribute to Vietnam.

All attendees applauded the President and promised to try their best to do better and make the Awards a convergence of talent.
