The suspension followed an inspection by an inter-agency team in Tan Thanh Commune on July 17. Boat operators were instructed to halt services until further notice.
The sudden suspension has disrupted weekend travel plans, with local businesses reporting a sharp drop in visitor numbers.
"Some groups had planned to visit the lighthouse alongside dining and sightseeing, but had to change their itineraries after the boat service was suspended," a local restaurant owner said.
Ke Ga Lighthouse, built more than a century ago, is one of the area's best-known tourist attractions. Many visitors travel to the coastal destination specifically to see the historic landmark.
The area has about six restaurants, several accommodation providers and three businesses operating speedboat services to the lighthouse.
The crossing from the shore to the lighthouse is just over 200 metres. Visitors can occasionally walk or take electric vehicles across when the tide is low, but speedboats remain the main means of transport for most of the day.
Local operators have urged authorities to allow the temporary resumption of boat services while procedures for a permanent inland waterway terminal are completed.
The route is served by five boats carrying up to 10 passengers each. Operators said the vessels are licensed and inspected, while their pilots hold the required qualifications.
A representative of Tan Thanh Commune People's Committee said the suspension was introduced after recent safety incidents involving inland waterway passenger transport, including the fatal tourist boat accident in Phu Quoc.
Authorities will review operators' licences, vessel safety, crew qualifications and the legal status of the landing site before deciding whether services can resume.
"The suspension will affect local tourism, but visitor safety remains the priority. We aim to complete the review as soon as possible," he added.
Ke Ga Lighthouse stands on a small rocky islet off the coast of Tan Thanh Commune in Lam Dong Province. Built in the late 19th century, it is one of Vietnam's oldest and best-known lighthouses, attracting visitors with its distinctive architecture and coastal setting.
