Hanoi expects robust tourism growth in first six months

Hanoi is expected to welcome more than 18 million visitors and generate tourism revenue of VND 74.23 trillion (USD 2.84 billion) in the first six months of 2026.

The capital is estimated to receive 18.01 million visitors in the January-June period, up 15.7 per cent from a year earlier. International arrivals are projected to reach 4.64 million, a 26.8 per cent increase, while domestic visitors are expected to total 13.37 million, up 12.3 per cent.

Tourism revenue in the first half is forecast at VND 74.23 trillion, up 19.1 per cent year-on-year.

Hanoi welcomed an estimated 3 million visitors in May, up 10 per cent year-on-year, including 709,330 international arrivals and 2.3 million domestic travellers.

Tourism revenue for the month was estimated at VND 12.05 trillion, up 13.7 per cent.

During the first five months of the year, Hanoi received an estimated 14.98 million visitors, up 17.2 per cent year-on-year, including 4.06 million international arrivals and 10.92 million domestic travellers. Revenue rose 20.6 per cent to VND 62.77 trillion.

Hotel occupancy averaged 65.7 per cent in the first five months, up 2.6 percentage points from a year earlier.

In the second half of the year, Hanoi plans to launch new tourism products, including community-based, night-time, agricultural and cultural experiences, while expanding river tourism and developing new pedestrian and food streets to boost visitor spending.
