Danang to stage Tet shows at iconic bridge

Authorities in Danang City will stage repeated fire-and-water displays at Dragon Bridge and rotate spans of Han River Bridge during the Lunar New Year or Tet holiday to serve residents and visitors.

The municipal People’s Committee approved the operation of the two landmarks during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday.

Dragon Bridge will spray fire and water nightly from February 13 to February 22. On Lunar New Year’s Eve which falls on February 16, the bridge will spray water only at midnight.

Han River Bridge will rotate to allow river traffic on the nights of February 14 and 15 (the 27th and 28th days of the final lunar month), February 17 and 18 (the first and second days of Tet), and February 21 and 22 (the fifth and sixth days of Tet).

The city’s Department of Construction has been tasked with directing the Danang Bridge and Road Joint Stock Company to operate the events in line with regulations, while city police will ensure security and traffic safety.

Dragon Bridge, inaugurated in 2013, spans 666 metres across the Han River and is shaped like a dragon facing the East Sea. Its fire-and water-breathing displays are among the city’s most recognisable tourist attractions.

Han River Bridge, inaugurated in 2000, was Vietnam’s first swing bridge. At 487.7 metres long, its rotating span serves both river navigation and tourism and remains a distinctive symbol of the city.

To mark the holiday, the city will also install Tet flower displays at 14 central locations and upgrade decorative lighting along major urban roads.
