HCM City trees pruned following incidents
Many trees in HCM City have been pruned following incidents which left people dead and injured.
On August 9, an old tree branch in Tao Dan Park in District 1 unexpectedly broke and fell on five people exercising, leaving two dead and three injured.
On September 4, a tree suddenly fell on An Duong Vuong Street in District 5 during a rainstorm, killing one woman.
Several trees on Le Quy Don Street in District 3 have been cut down, while many others have been trimmed. However, many trees have been pruned so excessively that they are left bare.
Nguyen Van Thai from District 3 said trimming trees in the rainy season, particularly after recent accidents, was necessary. But he hoped trees should be pruned suitably instead of leaving them bare.
A tree on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in District 3 was cut down due to its rotting trunk.
New trees have replaced those cut down.
