Vietnamese bodybuilder Pham Van Mach has just won a gold medal in the men’s 55kg category at the 14th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in South Korea.
Mach achieved the highest score from the judges for his performance, claiming the gold medal on November 9.
It marks his sixth world championship title in the men's 55kg category, the highest placing so far by a Vietnamese bodybuilder. The 47-year-old athlete also won seven gold medals at the Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships.
Mach is among 22 Vietnamese athletes taking part in the 14th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships.
The same day, female bodybuilder Dinh Kim Loan delivered an outstanding performance in the women's 55kg category, earning the highest score and securing the gold medal. In other events, the Vietnamese team also achieved gold medals in the men's 65kg category by athlete Tran Bao Quoc Vuong and in the men's 70kg category by athlete Ho Huy Binh. In the women's fitness category for those under 1m65 in height, athlete Nguyen Thi Kim Dung also claimed the top position.
The Vietnamese bodybuilding team also won five silver and three bronze medals in various categories for both men and women in bodybuilding and fitness.
The 14th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships which is being held in South Korea’s Gangwon Province from November 9-11, has over 600 athletes from 45 countries and territories competing.
