Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team retain Asiad gold

Vietnam beat Thailand 2-1 in the women's quadrant final to successfully defend their Asiad gold medal in Japan.

Vietnam's women's four-player sepak takraw team beat Thailand 2-1 in the final on the morning of October 3, securing the country's second gold medal in the sport at Asiad 20 in Japan.

The victory gave Vietnam its third gold medal of the Games, lifting the country from 21st to 19th in the overall medal standings on the 13th day of competition, with three golds, three silvers and 19 bronzes.

The result was particularly significant as Vietnam successfully defended the women's quadrant title won at Asiad 19, reaffirming the country's standing in women's sepak takraw at the continental level.

Vietnam's women's team had also won gold in the women's doubles event several days earlier, making another major contribution to the country's medal tally.
