International tourists were entertained on New Year’s Eve by a series of variety program in English at the Superbowl Theater in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh District.

Meritorious Artist Hong Van, director of the Superbowl and Phu Nhuan Theaters, made the announcement at a press conference in HCMC.

The series, called Duyen Viet 1, delves into the past and present of Hanoi.

Van said it would be important to work closely with tour operators to bring international visitors to the theater so that the place can have a regular audience.

Apart from the Duyen Viet program, Van said she also plans to design other programs in English including some for children.

The programs for children will entertain students learning at international schools in HCMC because these schools have drama as a subject on their curriculum, she said.

The Superbowl Theater will also tie up with VAPA, a company that has five theaters in South Korea, to stage plays in English.

Cooperation with VAPA will ensure that the Superbowl Theater will stage a certain number of plays, and also attract a large audience from among the tens of thousands of South Koreans living and working in HCMC, Van said.
