A young woman in Can Tho City has lost nearly 40kg in a few months and now weighs only 20kg due to a strange disease, but her parents are powerless to save her.

Pham Thi Thuy, 24-years old, from Cai Rang District, has suffered from the disease since the middle of last year. She is unable to eat without vomiting, which has caused serious weight loss.
Her mother, Nguyen Thi Dung, said she intended to bring Thuy to hospital for the treatment, but she didn't have the money. She went to Long An 1 Pagoda for support.
Mrs. Dung said that when Thuy’s eldest child also has a mental problem which makes it difficult for her to speak and her husband stopped visiting her a month ago. Now Thuy is very skinny and mostly bedridden.
Dung works as a hired farmhand and is paid 10kg of rice every day. Her family has been unable to escape from poverty for several years. The situation became worse after Thuy got sick, Dung cannot borrow from anyone else as her current debts continue to rise.

Since her husband died 12 years ago her family is unable to have a proper Tet because she has to work through the holiday.
Nun Dieu Minh called on buddhists to help Thuy, but the support remains modest. Now she is reaching out to our readers for assistance.
Nguyen Van Banh, from Ba Lang Ward, said local authorities and people lent Mrs. Dung money to take Thuy to hospitak. After the treatment period, Thuy’s health condition has improved, but to date she remains exhausted.
According to a doctor from Can Tho General Hospital, Thuy suffers from serious problems related to the kidneys and stomach.
