The HCM City Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) is finalising feasibility studies and legal procedures for the projects as the city seeks to expand its urban rail network to about 255 kilometres by 2030.
The first project, the Binh Duong-Suoi Tien metro line, will run about 32 kilometres, with 19 elevated stations and a depot in Phu Chanh. Estimated to cost VND 64.37 trillion, it will connect Binh Duong with Metro Line 1 at the New Eastern Bus Station.
The Thu Dau Mot-HCM City metro line, estimated at VND 113 trillion, will stretch about 35 kilometres with both underground and elevated sections. It will have 24 stations and connect the Binh Duong area with Tao Dan station on Metro Line 2.
The third project, a 23-kilometre Metro Line 6 section linking Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Phu Huu, is estimated at VND 86.53 trillion. About 19 kilometres will be underground, connecting the airport with the planned Thu Thiem-Long Thanh metro line.
MAUR is working with consultants on feasibility studies and approval procedures, with construction expected to start in the fourth quarter.
Separately, Metro Line 2 is being accelerated, with tunnelling due to start in August 2027 and trial operations and safety certification completed by end-2030.
