Doctors from Duc Giang General Hospital give health consultation for almost 200 elderly people and disadvantaged residents in Thai Nguyen Province on September 16.
Many locals said access to medical services remained limited as the hospital was far away.
Nong Thi Sam, 84, who suffers from joint pain and high blood pressure, said after receiving care from doctors, “The doctors were very attentive, they asked about us thoroughly. I’m very grateful to them.”
Nong Thi Yen, 68, who has a thyroid tumour and weak health, often needs hospital treatment. “Because the journey is long, it is challenging each time I go for a check-up. It is wonderful that the doctors are here to give consultations,” she said.

Le Dang Khoa, a neurologist at Duc Giang General Hospital, said most elderly people in the commune suffer from cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, ear, nose and throat problems and skin conditions. Many also face musculoskeletal issues due to heavy manual labour and walking long distances.

Residents were advised to adjust lifestyle habits, limit heavy work and seek specialist treatment at medical facilities. “We found many health issues that need improvement. Doctors gave guidance on diet, exercise and medication, and urged some cases to visit higher-level hospitals for detailed examinations,” Khoa said.
Each participant received a gift package worth more than VND 300,000 (approximately USD 12), sponsored by Pharmacity, which included vitamins, joint supplements, cold medicine, ginger tea, artichoke tea, throat lozenges, cooling pads, and vitamin C.
Also on the morning of September 16, Dtinews and the Tran Phu Commune authorities inaugurated four houses for disadvantaged families in the area.

Nguyen Xuan Toan, deputy editor-in-chief of Dtinews, expressed gratitude to readers and benefactors supporting the newspaper’s charitable work.
