A reporter from Dantri Newspaper presented on February 4 a symbolic plaque representing VND 121,116,044 (approximately USD 4,745) donated by readers to the family of Huynh Van Phuoc, 43, residing in Nhut B Hamlet, My Long Commune, Vinh Long Province. Phuoc was featured in the article "Poor labourer with small bowel cancer fears for children's education and orphanhood", published in Dantri Newspaper on September 13, 2025.

The entire sum had been directly transferred by Dantri to Phuoc's bank account previously, enabling him to continue medical treatment and support his children's education.
Phuoc emotionally shared: "Everyone's help is invaluable to my family. Thanks to this money, I have been able to visit the hospital for follow-up examinations and collect medication each month. I am incredibly grateful for the kindness of the readers towards my family; we will never forget this generosity."
Nguyen Thi Cam Tu, 39, Phuoc's wife, stated that in addition to using the money for medical treatment, they purchased a cow for over VND 30 million (approximately USD 1,154) as a livelihood. Despite his weak health, Phuoc still tries to cut grass for the cow daily. Tu expressed her hope that her husband would soon recover to help her shoulder family responsibilities and raise their children.
Earlier, in 2024, Phuoc was diagnosed with small bowel cancer, which severely weakened his health and prevented him from continuing his work as a labourer, digging ditches for a daily income of over VND 200,000 (approximately USD 7.69). His family's financial situation became dire, forcing them to sell assets and borrow from relatives to cover treatment costs.

Phuoc's illness coincided with Tu's pregnancy and the birth of their third child. Due to their extremely difficult circumstances, their eldest daughter, Huynh Thi Ngoc Yen, nearly had to drop out of school. Thanks to encouragement and support from teachers and friends, Yen completed Grade 8 and is preparing for Grade 9. The impoverished student expressed her dream of continuing her education to become a teacher and help her parents support her younger siblings.
