People travel on a flood road in Gia Lai Province.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, by the end of November 21, flooding had caused 43 deaths, nine people missing, and nearly 70,000 homes damaged or inundated. Total property losses are estimated at more than VND 3,000 billion.
Faced with such devastation, Dantri’s editor-in-chief Pham Tuan Anh said the funds would come from the newspaper’s Humanitarian Programme, backed by reader donations, to alleviate immediate hardship. The paper is working with local authorities in the three provinces to ensure the money reaches the most vulnerable households, including those in deep poverty, and schools significantly damaged by the floods.

Many areas in the central region suffer serious flooding.
In Gia Lai, which will receive VND 1 billion, Nguyen Tuan Thanh, permanent vice-chair of the provincial people’s committee, expressed deep gratitude for Dantri’s timely and thoughtful support. He reported that as of the afternoon of 21 November, the province had recorded three deaths, one missing person, and six injured. The floods had destroyed 34 homes, flooded another 19,200, and severely damaged public infrastructure, schools, irrigation systems and crops. The preliminary cost of the damage in Gia Lai alone already exceeds VND 1,000 billion.
Gia Lai’s authorities have begun assessing losses. They are also distributing more than 2,000 tonnes of food aid, provided by the central government, to help affected households recover. The province has also announced financial assistance: VND 60 million for families whose homes were completely destroyed, VND 5 million for total roof loss, and VND 2 million for partial damage.
In Dak Lak, vice-chair Truong Cong Thai expressed profound appreciation: “Our flood-stricken communities are in grave difficulty. The solidarity from Dantri and generous donors means a great deal in sharing that burden.”
From Khanh Hoa, Tran Thu Mai, the standing vice-chair of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said Dantri’s contribution is “meaningful and practical.” The local Fatherland Front will draw up a transparent plan to distribute the funds quickly and openly to those in need.
On November 21, Dantri also launched a donation code 250507, calling on readers at home and abroad to contribute to flood relief in the central region.
