Work on the bridge in Nam Tot Village, Que Phong District was started in December last year. Over the past four months, the locality has faced unfavourable weather with heavy rains, which has slowed the construction of the project.
Vi Van Cuong, chairman of Tri Le Commune, said that Nam Tot's long rainy weather had caused difficulties for the transportation of construction material as the shortest road to the village had become muddy.
Cuong added that over the recent years, people in Nam Tot have travelled across a 20-metre-long bridge that has severely deteriorated. They expect the new bridge to be put into operation soon.

The unfavourable weather condition has slowed down the bridge construction
Hoang Dang Kieu, director of Kieu Oanh Construction and Engineering Ltd. Co., which is building the bridge, said that Nam Tot is among the poorest villages in Nghe An. His staff had to use motorbikes to carry construction materials. However, this was impossible when it was rainy.
Nam Tot is up to 45 kilometres from the centre of Que Phong District. The village is home to 47 households with 300 people. Most of the locals depend on farming.
Work on the bridge, worth VND700 million (USD30,434) is scheduled to be completed early next month.
