Vietnam sees lowest daily Covid-19 caseload in two months

Vietnam confirmed an additional 4,589 Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, which was the lowest daily case count reported in two months, according to the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam confirmed an additional 4,589 Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, which was the lowest daily case count reported in two months, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 4,583 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 34 localities including Binh Duong (2,575), Dong Nai (787), HCM City (377), An Giang (232), and Long An (159). There were six imported patients confirmed today.

The new infection number showed a decrease of 4,759 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 717 infections found in the community.


As of Tuesday evening, 766,110 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.


With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 770,640. The country now stands 44th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On September 28, an additional 21,487 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 559,945.

On Tuesday evening, a further 178 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 18,936. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (131), Binh Duong (15), Tay Ninh (1), An Giang (5), Long An (5), Dong Nai (6), Kien Giang (4), Can Tho (1), Quang Ngai (1), Tien Giang (5), Binh Thuan (1), Khanh Hoa (1), Soc Trang (1), and Danang (2).
  
The country has so far conducted over 40.09 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 8.59 million people having received two doses.
