The Covid-19 testing in Vietnam

The ministry reported that over the past month, new Covid-19 cases have remarkably risen in most cities and provinces with a total of around 50,000-70,000 patients per day on average nationwide. The highest figure reached almost 132,000 cases per day on Saturday.

The higher infection has been seen among people who have not yet been vaccinated, particularly children under 12. The Omicron variant of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has also been attributed to the increased number of new Covid-19 cases in many localities, including Hanoi and HCM City.

However, thanks to the high vaccine coverage rate, Vietnam’s Covid-19 death rate has sharply dropped. Over the past month, the country’s new Covid-19 infections have increased by 197.9 percent, but the death rate has declined by 47.1 percent. During the time, patients who have been treated at hospital have decreased by 24.5 percent. Meanwhile, the rate of worsened and severe cases has also dropped by 43.1 percent.
