Vietnam confirms additional 23,012 Covid-19 infections

Vietnam reported an additional 23,012 Covid-19 infections on Thursday, raising the national tally to 10.32 million, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 62 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (1,677), Phu Tho (1,279), Nghe An (976), Yen Bai (945), and Vinh Phuc (936).

As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,320,599. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,529,619), HCM City (604,853), Nghe An (419,652), Binh Duong (382,306), and Bac Giang (378,008).

On April 14, an additional 85,633 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,856,627.

On Thursday evening, a further 23 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,901. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Cao Bang (3), Khanh Hoa (3), Binh Dinh (2), Dak Lak (2), and Gia Lai (2).

Vietnam on April 13 administered 156,509 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 208.96 million.
