Vietnam confirms additional 12,029 Covid-19 infections on Thursday

Most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 59 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (986), Phu Tho (836), Quang Ninh (550), Bac Giang (550), and Nghe An (511). Dak Nong Province today added 18,545 more infection cases to the national tally.

As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,533,164. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,537,814), HCM City (607,793), Nghe An (478,198), Binh Duong (383,101), and Bac Giang (382,069).

On April 21, an additional 8,693 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 9,076,927.

On Thursday evening, a further nine deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,991. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Dong Nai (2), Dak Lak (1), Kien Giang (1), Lam Dong (1), Soc Trang (1), Tay Ninh (1), Tra Vinh (1), and Vinh Long (1).

Vietnam on April 20 administered 452,228 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 210.56 million.
