US helps renovate Vietnamese clinics for natural disaster prevention

The US Embassy has just held a Nhon Binh Clinic Renovation Project Handover Ceremony in Quy Nhon City.

The US Embassy held a Nhon Binh Clinic Renovation Project Handover Ceremony in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province on July 16.

This is one of 31 clinics that will be renovated by Vietnam and the US in order to improve the natural disaster prevention and response capacity for the coastal areas. Nhon Binh Ward is one of the areas that are more prone to floods.

The project has a USD257,000 investment with main rooms for in-patients and traditional medicines. It can also be used as a shelter during emergencies.

Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Province Nguyen Tuan Thanh thanked the US Office of Defence Co-operation, the US Embassy in Vietnam, and the US Pacific Command for their support in improving the local healthcare and disaster prevention.

Thanh asked Quy Nhon City authorities and the Department of Health to quickly put the clinic into use, take care of the facility and have plans to evacuate the residents to the shelter in time.
