According to the ministry's report, the 17-year-old Ukrainian man arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City from the US on December 18.
He was sent to a quarantine area in Binh Thuan Province upon arrival and is now being treated at the Binh Thuan Provincial General Hospital.
The second patient is a 22-year-old Vietnamese woman who returned from Russia at Danang International Airport on December 6.
She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in her third testing on December 19.
The woman is now being treated at the Danang Lung Hospital.
Earlier, three other people who boarded the same flight with her also tested for SARS-CoV-2 while being quarantined in Danang City.
With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 720.
As of 6 pm on December 20, a total of 1,269 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
At present, over 17,220 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
