According to the National Hydro-meteorological Forecast Centre, by 3 pm on July 25, the storm made landfall in Quang Tri Province with Vinh Linh District being hardest hit. Many local households were damaged. Meanwhile, thousands of trees along the road from Cua Tung to Cua Viet were felled.

Many houses in Ha Tinh Province’s Duc Tho District were also damaged on the afternoon of July 25.

The typhoon has also resulted in strong winds and heavy rains in the central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue with rainfall of 50-100mm.

The National Hydro-meteorological Forecast Centre said that the typhoon has weakened into a tropical depression which is forecast to still bring torrential rains for the northern and central region of Vietnam.

Today, July 26, provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue were forecasted to experience torrential rains of 150-250mm. The rains will also happen in some northern localities such as Hoa Binh, Son La and Phu Tho provinces.

In the first half of the year, the General Statistics Office reported that natural disasters in Vietnam killed or left missing 27 people, injured 30 others, damaged 5,900 houses and inundated 11,400 hectares of crops, causing property losses of over VND433 billion (USD19.2 million).
