The new campus was officially inaugurated on June 1 in Kieu Phu Commune, Hanoi, marking a major expansion of one of the country's leading paediatric healthcare institutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, hospital director Tran Minh Dien said demand for children's healthcare services has continued to rise, with patient numbers increasing steadily over recent years.
Despite efforts to expand services, streamline procedures and improve capacity, overcrowding at the hospital's main campus has remained a significant challenge, he said.
Construction of the second campus began in 2023 on a site covering nearly six hectares. The project required an investment of more than VND 880 billion (approximately USD 33.8 million) and is intended to ease pressure on the main facility while expanding access to high-quality paediatric care.
Dien said the new campus has been fully integrated into the hospital's overall operations, with staffing, management systems, clinical procedures and technical infrastructure prepared in advance to ensure efficient operation from the outset.
"The opening of the second campus will not only help reduce overcrowding at the main facility but also marks a new stage in the development of the National Children's Hospital as it continues its mission to protect and improve the health of Vietnam's children," he said.
Addressing the event, Health Minister Dao Hong Lan described the opening as an important step towards improving children's access to healthcare and enhancing medical services for future generations.
"On International Children's Day, June 1, we are adding a modern healthcare facility dedicated to children's health. This is a significant achievement for the healthcare sector in advancing children's rights and improving healthcare quality for future generations," she said.
The minister expressed hope that the new campus would help reduce congestion at central-level hospitals, ease pressure on the hospital's existing facility in central Hanoi and improve access to medical services for patients and families.
Lan also said the health sector is continuing work on several major healthcare projects, including second campuses for the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.
