The weather agency said conditions during the period could favour the formation of a tropical depression or tropical storm, increasing the likelihood of prolonged heavy rainfall across the region.

Before then, northern Vietnam is forecast to see scattered showers and thunderstorms from July 12 to 20, with isolated downpours, particularly in mountainous and midland areas. Rainfall is expected to ease briefly on July 12-13 and July 16-17.
The central region is expected to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, while the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam are forecast to see scattered rain, with locally heavy downpours.
Forecasters warned that saturated ground in northern mountainous areas has heightened the risk of flash floods and landslides, while thunderstorms could bring lightning, hail and strong winds.
