Central Vietnam's longest sea-crossing bridge nears completion

Thuan An Bridge, the longest bridge spanning a sea estuary in central Vietnam, is expected to be completed by July 30 after delays caused by land clearance issues.

Nguyen Van Cuong, deputy director of Hue's transport infrastructure project management board, said the first phase of the coastal road and Thuan An Bridge project was largely complete, with only a few final works remaining.

The 3.24-km northern approach has been completed, while the 2.19-km southern approach, delayed by land clearance issues, is in its final construction phase, with road paving and traffic infrastructure under way.

Authorities said the project would improve coastal transport links, strengthen regional connectivity and support economic development, tourism and national defence.

The project includes nearly 22 km of coastal road and Thuan An Bridge, which stretches 2.36 kilometres across the Thuan An Etuary. Total investment stands at VND 3.5 trillion (about USD 134 million).

Construction began in March 2022 but was delayed by land clearance issues. The bridge opened to trial traffic on April 30, with work continuing on the approach roads
