Local authorities in Gia Hiep Commune said the victim was a Grade 10 student at a local high school.
The incident occurred at around 3 pm at Phu Xuan Waterfall, where the teenager was spending time with a group of friends. She reportedly slipped near the edge of the waterfall and fell into a gorge about eight metres deep.
After receiving reports of the accident, local police, military personnel and rescue teams from Lam Dong Police were mobilised to search for the victim.
The rugged terrain around the waterfall complicated rescue efforts.
At around 6.30 pm, rescuers recovered the student's body from the gorge.
