According to the police of HCM City’s District 1, the theft occurred at around 4:30 pm on March 26 at a coffee shop on Thai Van Lung Street. The men stole the wallet of the 51-year-old Japanese man.

The Japanese man received notification from his BIDV bank account the same evening that his credit cards had been used to buy watches at a store on Dong Khoi Street.
He then came to Ben Nghe Ward Police Station to report the case. He said tens of millions of VND had been debited from his bank account and he had lost important papers in the wallet.
The police arrested Qin Haibo, 50, and Chen Xingao, 60, at the Khanh Vinh Hotel in District 5. The police found a green suitcase which contained some watches in their room.
At the police station, the two Chinese men confessed they had stolen the Japanese man’s wallet at the coffee shop. They used two credit cards and took VND9.90 million (USD396) in cash from the wallet.
Chen Xingao came to the watch store on Dong Khoi Street to buy one Rado-branded watch and two Citizen-branded watches worth VND56 million.
