Many localities in Vietnam have been impacted by a tropical depression ravaging the East Sea.
By early this morning, July 15, the tropical depression was in the southwestern sea area of the Paracel Islands and moving west-northwest at a speed of 10 kilometres per hour.
By 7 am on Tuesday, the tropical depression would gradually weaken into a low-pressure area.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, on July 15-17, the northern and central regions would see rainfall of 70-250mm. Residents have been warned of landslides and flooding.
Meanwhile, the Red River Delta and coastal areas of the north, the Central Highlands and the southern region are struggling with rain with a rainfall of 50-100mm. Some places would have rainfall of up to 200mm.
Coastal localities have been requested to closely monitor the developments of the tropical depression to notify vessel and boat owners. In the mainland, local authorities need to arrange forces to monitor flood-prone areas, swift-flowing water areas, landslide-prone areas, or areas that have already experienced or are at risk of landslides.
