A tour company in Khanh Hoa Province has been fined VND80m (USD3,590) for several violations including hiring foreign employees without work permits.

Silent Bay Travel and Trade Company fined VND80m
Vice chairman of Khanh Hoa Province Tran Son Hai fined Silent Bay Travel and Trade Company VND75m. Silent Bay was accused of illegally recruiting 64 Chinese employees who do not have work permits. Current legal requirements require that foreign tourists have to be shown by Vietnamese tour guides.
The company organised tours for more than 6,187 tourists in Nha Trang, mostly from China, between February and May but did not keep relevant documents. The provincial authorities fined the company VND5m for the violation.
On June 21, Tran Van Tuan, head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, revoked the licence of Silent Bay after discovering that it used fake papers to establish the firm.
Silent Bay was managed by the son of Truong Dang Tuyen, former head of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and set up by Tuyen's wife. The Department of Internal Affairs is investigating Tuyen for corruption.
