Three more imported Covid-19 patients reported on Tuesday

Three Vietnamese men who recently returned from Myanmar and the US have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,405, the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday evening.

According to the ministry's report, two of the newly-reported patients aged 24 and 30 arrived at Can Tho International Airport from Myanmar on December 12.

They were sent to a quarantine area in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu upon arrival and are now being treated at the Bac Lieu Provincial General Hospital.

The other patient is a 73-year-old man who returned from the US to Danang International Airport on December 6 and was sent to quarantine in Quang Nam Province upon arrival.

He is now being treated at the Quang Nam Provincial General Hospital.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 711.

As of 6 pm on December 15, a total of 1,252 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, nearly 19,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
