Big C Supermarket in Vietnam up for sale

Pachara Chirathivat's Central Group wants to buy Big C in Thailand and Vietnam.

Central Group holds 49 percent of Nguyen Kim Electronic Supermarket and has stakes in fashion outlets Robins, Crocs and New Balance.

TCC Holding Co Ltd., owned by Thailand's third richest billionaire, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakd, is also interested in acquiring Big C through its Berli Jucker PCL subsidiary. TCC owns the Metro Cash and Carry wholesale chain in Vietnam.

French firm, Casino, wants to sell the business units in Vietnam, Thailand and Colombia to strengthen its financial flexibility. The asset in Vietnam is said to worth at least USD800m.
