This is an annual visit carried out by the Vietnam People's Navy.

The Tet gifts include food, essential goods, and Tet decorative items such as apricot and peach blossoms and kumquat trees.

The gifts were carefully wrapped for a long trip with tough weather conditions.

Two ships carrying a delegation and goods for the DK1 Platforms left Con Dao Island on December 26.

DK1 is a group of offshore economic, scientific and technical service stations set up in 1989 on Vietnam's southern continental shelf.

The platforms serve as a lighthouse to notify fishing and transport vessels travelling in the area, for setting up hydro-meteorological research stations and act as shelters to avoid storms and rescue fishermen. They also safeguard the southern continental shelf, particularly resources found within the continental shelf.

Over more than three decades, those stationed at DK1 platforms have contributed to marine economic activities and the safeguarding of the country’s maritime sovereignty.
